About Ninja Desk Japan
Ninja Desk Japan is run by Yoshiaki Sagara, a sole trader based in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
I've been modifying cars since I was 18, and over the years I've owned an R33 Skyline GT-R (BCNR33), a 180SX and two Civics (an EG6 and an EP3). These days I work in paintless dent repair and detailing. Most of that work comes down to looking closely: at how light runs across a panel, at the texture of the paint, at the marks a car picks up over its life. I've seen a lot of Japanese sports cars up close.
Why this service exists
Photos show less than you think. A listing photo shows what the camera was pointed at, in the light the photographer chose. A small dent, a panel gap that's wider on one side, paint that doesn't quite match the panel next to it: these are much easier to see when you're standing next to the car and walking round it.
If you're buying from overseas, you can't do that. So we do it for you, and tell you honestly what we saw — and what we couldn't see.
How we work
- We separate what we saw from what we were told. Every item in a report is marked Observed, Reported, Not verified or Not applicable.
- We don't tell you whether to buy. We don't say a car has, or hasn't, been in an accident. You decide, with your mechanic if you have one.
- We're independent. We don't take commissions or referral fees from dealers, exporters or shipping agents, and we don't sell cars.
- We visit openly. We tell the dealer we're there on behalf of an overseas buyer. We don't pretend to be you, and we don't take photos without permission.
- We only look at cars. We don't investigate people or companies — where they are, what they do, or whether they can be trusted.
- We keep a record. We keep your report and the main photos for five years, so we can show what we saw if a question comes up later.

About the name
"Ninja Desk Japan" is a nod to Japan, not a description of how we work: there's nothing hidden about what we do. We're an independent business and aren't connected with any other company or brand that uses the word "Ninja".
